This. I worked in a hotel and had to stutter through check in processes and guest/employee issues all day long for over 2 years. By shamelessly stuttering and accepting that it was there, no one commented on it. When I tried to hide it or wouldn’t speak for fear of someone hearing me struggle over a word it would lead to them feeling “sorry” for me. Standing my ground as a manager while stuttering through company policy was the WORST. But I learned that no one really cares if you stutter. They care if you’re helping them/doing your job. Biggest lesson I’ve learned is that I am a stutterer. Not a stutterer who cant wait for the day be 100% fluent, but just someone who stutters. Had to learn to be okay with it and not shame myself because of it. Surprisingly that helped me become more fluent, but it comes and goes.
