My parents are Hindu, so am I. I prefer to practice Hinduism my entire life, as it is a religion which doesn't threaten to sent me to hell for not believing in God. I like Hinduism despite its blemishes, as it fundamentally doesn't punish you for kro believing in God. It doesn't force me to do anything, for Hinduism 'Right is right even if no one is doing it and wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it'. Because of this mere concept I will remain a Hindu my entire life. My parents are educated, and it's common in my community for people to be educated and generationally rich. I'm a Agarwal(a mercantile clan in India), we are by far the most richest and one of the most educated community of the nation. So it's pretty common in family to be educated and brought up this way. It's only recent that it has become this way. 70 years ago you would have witnessed an orthodox attitude form my family. We are Vaishnav(followers of Vishnu, a major deity in Hinduism and were an aristocratic family in Lucknow(the seat of paper of my state), worked with the Nawabs(former rulers of Lucknow) and the Britishers. You would have witnessed child marriage, and what else. We even have a well maintained Haveli(a large house and a small palace, comparable to a Manor), and Bansawali(family tree) in Lucknow. I have never visited there due to family feud. My family changed after they lost a political and economic battle around early 1950's and essentially became bankrupt. It was my grandfathers fault in it as well, I don't know much about it as he never told anyone much about it. He studied hard, and left for college and never came back to the Haveli. Became an Engineer and joined the Military. Agarwal's claim to be descendants of Maharaja(King) Agresen and King Agresen was descendant of Bhagwan Ram, the 7th Avatar of Lord Vishnu. We have 18 minor clans within us, I'm a Goyal/Goel/Goenka(however you want to say it, originally it was Gomil). We also have divisions based on purity, I'm a Bisa(meaning 20 or of the highest purity), there is Dasa(meaning 10 or half blood) and Pancha(meaning 5 or 1/4 the blood). If you marry outside the clan you become a Pancha, if you are a Pancha and once again married outside the clan you become a Dasa. And being a Dasa if you married outside the clan, you're basically outcast from the Family. Ofcourse it's not practiced anymore, but it was a thing until 20 years ago. Aside from the claim, there is a theory(politically shunted by the members of my clan) that Agarwal's were originally scythians, who came to India and established a Kingdom. And claimed themselves to be Descendants of Bhagwan Ram to legitimise there rule in India and converted to Hinduism. Talking about my marriage, it depends. I don't want to continue my current relationship much further. I will probably make a new gf in college, if shes good(meaning mature, knows hows to handle relations, knows how to act infront of who, what to say infront of who) I will marry her. Or if I'm not lucky enough, I will rely on my father's say and marry whoever he tells me to.
