Sounds like you're using an easy onset technique. If it helps you then keep using it. Usually when I meet new people, I introduce myself like Hi my name is _____ and I'm a person who stutters. That has helped me a lot because the other person can immediately understand why you have a difficult time saying some words. In your case it can be something like, "Hey I stutter, you stutter, lets be friends" Lol. Or something better would be "Hey I'm a person who stutters and I notice you also have a stutter too. I would like to get to know you and see how you manage your stutter." That's just me. You can say whatever feels right!
