I’d say that yourbrain *has* kicked into gear, but is only running the script for “fear of ppl hearing you talk weird”. The muscles for talking are always ready to go. The only time they’re not is when you have an unwanted valsalva response. A SLP named William Parry has talked about this at NSA conferences. (My cat was literally just standing on my throat, so that’s another time the talking muscles won’t work…lol)
