SLPs are absolutely there to help with stuttering. From fluency shaping to stuttering modification and CBT, an SLP who knows their stuff can absolutely make a difference for a person who stutters. The key phrase is “who knows what their doing,” because so many SLPs graduate and get licensed without ever having treated a fluency disorder. And it’s not even necessarily their fault, any more than it is that they haven’t treated a voice disorder: the populations just aren’t big enough for everyone to get a client. There’s a great Podcast I listened to discussing basically this very thing. It’s from 2017, and features Dr Rod Gabel, who’s a big name in the stuttering world. This topic of the Podcast is [Should Speech-Language Pathologists Treat People Who Stutter?](https://stuttertalk.com/should-speech-language-pathologists-treat-people-who-stutter-part-two-with-rodney-gabel-ep-630/). Dr Gabel, for reference, stutters himself, as well as focuses on the disorder in his academic and clinical work.
