Man, I have trouble with this too. The S when it comes out is like a hiss and then a big pause where my tongue is frozen against my teeth and then the T is like an interminable ticking sound. This tends to happen even in the middle of words (like intereSTing) or with other blends that include a T (percentage, etc.).
