I think it takes a long long time to be able to accept your stutter, it just takes baby steps in order to get there. The goal should not be to stop stuttering but rather make it not inhibit you from living your life. Just challenge yourself daily, whether it’s in small calling someone instead of texting them or purposely going thru the drive thru and ordering your food. You just have to tackle what you fear most. You will have good days and bad days, we all do, it’s just about perspective. You have to tell yourself daily that what you have to say matters and surround yourself around people who actually care about what you say and will be patient. Like, I have been forcing myself to do jobs I would never never ever do. This past year I did sales for this water dispenser company and I was scared shitless but over a few months I realized I could use my stutter as an advantage to get more personal with each client. Now I have a serving job and my first few weeeks were tough but I always told each table about my stutter and they were understanding, and actually tipped me more 😉. We are all capable of sooooo much more than we think, don’t let self doubt stop you from doing what you want. It just takes time.
