You gotta nip that in the bud. It's like these parents who continue ordering food at restaurants for their 19 year old kid. It's easy for us to allow people to do this for us but it doesn't really help anything. I would argue people do it mostly for their own benefit even if they believe they're doing it for ours. Regardless, I'd tell him to stop doing it. And if you want to leave the door open for him to still be able to "help" in other situations, I would just talk to him about it. Surely y'all can figure out some way of signaling to him when help would be appreciated.
