Im so sorry that you had to go through this. One day I will start a company where PWS are given priority for employment. Seriously. This breaks my heart. Take the time to be upset. Scream, cry, kick something that won't break your foot because that would be adding injury to insult. Give yourself a time limit- reasonable one- to be sad and broken- <1 week because more than 2 weeks is depression. Studies show that being sad for more than 2 weeks can actually change your brain chemicals and set you on a depressive path. After 1 week to 10 days, get right back up and figure a way forward. Your speech is definately an issue. But you have to understand that your anxiety, while related to your speech, is a separate issue altogether and it is significantly impairing your life. Depending on where you live there are community resources for help with anxiety and depression. You can look them up online for sure. If you need someone to call for you, I will do it and ask questions for more info. You don't need just counselling, you need treatment. BTW, your local GP or PCP or Doctor can start you one something - takes 4 weeks minimum to see effects so starting earlier rather than later is better. Speech therapy is very expensive and some people- eg me, hardly ever stutter when I have the permission to. I am never so fluent as I am in therapy. But there are some free resources online that can help you in a pinch. Of course these are all long term solutions. You have already sorted out your short term solution by having a job lined up already!!!! Megaboss over here! I promise that once you have a handle on your mental health, everything will become clearer and the path forward will be so much more discernible. Bravo for getting an interview/job lined up so quickly! I'm over here rooting for you.
