I used to use a few tricks like saying ‘my-name-is’ before my name to get into the flow of talking before then saying my name. I’m in few situations now where I have to give my name but when I do it’s not a problem as the trauma of school and college is well behind me, ha,ha. My problem word now could be my job title but I just say it with a hint of making the first letter almost silent or adding another letter or the word ‘its’ in front. So say your name is ‘Peter’ that would be ‘itsPeter’ or Bob becomes ‘ ob’. I re-reading the above now and it does sound a bit daft but it can work. It’s about building up the confidence.
