From what I’ve seen online: some little kids stutter and it goes away within a few years. However, if that doesn’t happen, you are stuck with it. Studies have found differences in the areas of the brain that process speech in adults who stutter. Sure there are tricks that therapy will teach you to reduce the frequency, but it’s not going away. I find that accepting that this is a part of who I am and reframing my perception of my stutter has actually reduced it, or at least I don’t notice it as much. There is some hope that because stuttering has been found to have biological causes, that also means science may be able to find biological solutions to it as well.
