It can help to unlearn the stuttering habit. According to neuroplasticity, if you practice something it becomes more prominent (e.g. writing with your non-dominant hand, playing an instrument or a sport that requires dexterity) and the brain slowly rewires itself to support the new habit, while it's unlearning the old one.
