From what I remember, I wouldn’t have a problem saying my name to people. Up until a few years ago however, I’ve started to have problems saying my name and meeting new people. My name starts with the letter D and even if I start with a phrase like “my name is ______” I would block on the first letter, D. It’s very weird. However, there are rare occasions where I surprise myself and have no problems at all. I’ve been mentally reminding myself of techniques to use such as: 1. “belly breathing” while talking 2. dropping the first letter of the word Even though I remind myself of these techniques, I always end up getting tense in the belly, jaw/mouth, and chest. Maybe the techniques listed above could be beneficial to you.
