how do y’all prefer people react when you stutter? & why? i also have a stutter, so i’m just curious to see if other people have similar or different preferences. personally, i most prefer that people finish out my sentence for me or respond as if i’ve already finished it if they’re sure they know what i’m going to say next. it saves a lot of frustration/annoyance and time for me & whoever i’m talking to. if they’re not sure, i like them to just wait. & i’m okay with jokes (in casual situations) as long as they aren’t undermining my intelligence or capabilities. for example, if someone goes “s-s-s-stutter??” or makes a DJing motion, it’s overdone af but generally they’re just trying to lighten the mood because it can be awkward. but if someone were to say “oh haha did you forget XYZ?”, that would be a bit upsetting because i am perfectly capable of remembering things, i just have difficult getting it out.
