Problem for me is the perception people have towards stuttering. Most people do not consider it a disability. They see it as a weakness that you have yet to overcome. If you're mute or deaf nothing one can do about it. So you can expect sympathies from other people. But I have hardly seen any sympathies towards stuttering, rather a lot of mocking.
