Am I entitled for not wanting to have to use techniques? There are many techniques that make me (seem) fluent: taking a super deep breath and exhaling out all the words, pretending like I’m singing a song, tapping a rhythm with my feet, talking suuuuper slowly, talking with a different voice, etc etc. For the most part, I know that if I use them, I won’t stutter. But sometimes I just feel so “fuck that”. If I’m honest, I HATE having to use techniques. Why should I have to bend over backwards and do these wacky things just so I can speak like everyone else? Ok, great, I didn’t stutter. At what cost? No one else has to psych themselves up in the car “ok, don’t forget to exhale and tap your foot on the 3rd word and go a little high pitched near the end!”. Sometimes I feel like I either want to stutter or not have to think about my stutter at all. Am I an entitled pos?
