New Adult-Onset Stutter I've (38f) developed a stutter a couple of months ago after a medical event (for clarity sake, I'm still waiting for diagnosis and follow up on and will be discussing this with my neurologist, etc.) Some days are good, and I might only stutter a few times here and there or if I do a lot of talking. Some days every word out of my mouth is stammered in some sense. I can sideways-think sometimes and get out an alternative word or rephrase whatever I'm saying, but sometimes I just get so frustrated with myself I stop talking. Sometimes the word(s) just wont come out. I also stutter reading aloud to myself, whispering, and my singing is now quite warbly and more breathy sounding than previous. It's a lot worse when hot or cold, anxious, on the phone, talking to strangers... I just feel very alone, I guess. I've never experienced anything like this. Most things I read about stuttering is from development in childhood. I've never had any diagnosed speech disorder in my life. Any other adult-onset (due to medical or whatever) stutterers with advice on how to process this as a new normal? Tips? Tricks? Treats? Beuller? 🫠
