The right speech therapy program allows many of us to achieve very high levels of fluency. I wouldn't classify it as a permanent fix the way you're defining it. Yes you'll be able to speak completely fluently. If by completely fluently you mean as fluent as everyone else. As stutterers, we really tend to overlook the disfluencies of people that don't have stutters. And we're hypercritical of our own fluency. Sometimes your stutter will still be there a little, but you'll be the only one that notices. Fluency doesn't mean having to speak slowly or take your time speaking. Seek out a speech pathologist that specializes in stuttering. With the right program and hard work on your part, you could achieve fluency by the end of the year. Potentially sooner depending on the level of commitment you have to putting in the work.
