Definitely. It was always super tough for me to figure out what to do work-wise, I always wanted to just do a desk job where I wouldn’t have to talk. I never really had a plan though and so when I was going to community college there was a family friend who needed part-time help at his business so I started working there and eventually liked the job and the people there and I’ve been there ever since. I think it really helped me with my speech because I’d avoid talking to people but at work it’s literally my job to answer phones and help customers in the store so it forced me to break the habit of avoiding conversations (for the most part). Whatever career interests you, I would pursue that and not base it off of your speech. The way I look at it, speaking is tough enough for us already so doing something you enjoy or find interesting is worth fighting through the hard parts.
