The most important thing is to change your mindset about your speech. Accepting your stutter and understanding that it is OK to stutter is key. There are many people who will fully accept you 100% with or without a stutter. As far as making friends, easiest way is to join a social group. If you in America you can start by attending your local National Stuttering Association meetings. They're usually a small group of people of all ages who stutter and share their experiences or just talk about whatever. It's a nice way to get support, advice, and just socialize in general. Also, if you attend college, join clubs there. Again, if you are comfortable with your speech then your audience will be comfortable with it too. It is a hard process to accept it, but once you do it'll be a huge weigh lifted off your shoulders.
