I think it affects me in ways that someone without a stutter wouldn’t even consider - for example, feeling like a complete idiot after stuttering when I try and make an off-handed comment (even if the other person didn’t even care). I think it makes your general attitude and demeanour difficult to come across as you want it to because it’s hard to come across as relaxed or “chill” when every word is a struggle to get out. So even if you’re trying to say something funny or nonchalant it looks like you were trying a lot harder than you wanted to.
