Unless his SLP has been directly trained in dysfluency, it’s likely they have almost zero formal knowledge about stuttering and treat it as if it’s an articulation disorder. Once you understand what stutter-blocks are, you’ll understand why he is very resistant to do exercises (they are not addressing actual issue and possibly makimg his blocks worse).
