It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. We often stutter "for" people which is why we should never apologize in advance and tell people you stutter before you speak to them because you wouldn't want to look like you were being disingenuous, so you make sure to stutter to prove that your'e a stutterer. If you didn't stutter the person could say, " Hey, I thought you said you were a stutterer!"
