Why do I have to call companies to ask a few questions?

Why do I have to call companies to ask a few questions? Currently, I am a sophomore at highschool and I am going though speech therapy. I'm often comfortable about my stuttering because I simply see it as a part of who I am as a person. Therefore, I never feel any sort of negative emotion whenever I go through blocks or repetitions. However, my assignment that my speech clinician has given me made me feel a little awkward. I am required to call multiple companies and businesses to ask them a few questions. I also have to advertise my stuttering at the beginning of the calls. I have the sense of discomfort not because I will stutter. It's because I don't really find a validating reason for making calls to companies just for a few simple questions. I am aware that improving speech fluency has to do with taking risks while also doing techniques and having more awareness towards your stuttering. But I would honestly do that with public speaking and communicating with strangers in person more than calling literal companies. To me, I call companies if I have actual questions that I'll need outside of my stuttering. Like if my car broke down, I wouldn't feel awkward calling a repair shop to schedule a repair. But I would feel awkward calling that repair shop for just a few mundane questions while getting answers that I don't have the reason to know. Another reason why I felt awkward in this assignment is because of how busy my family is. I would often arrive home after school to either study for exams or practice my instrument. Meanwhile, my parents are out there doing their own jobs to provide for the family. The problem about this is that I don't have a phone number on my phone (do not ask why, my parents made that decision). So I have to use my parents' cellphones but I'll first have to wait for them to come back which will be around 8:00 PM, where most of the companies around my area are already closed. I can't simply ask my parents to leave their phones with me because their phones are basically a necessity to them. If it sounds like I'm complaining, I am and I do apologize. I have to do it, but it doesn't really fit me whatsoever.
