I fully recovered from stuttering at the age of 70 through psychological therapy. It's as if I’d always been totally fluent my entire life. My childhood was abusive and I had never released the latent anger and resentment. During my therapy one day I just noticed I no longer stuttered. Stuttering has many causes both physical and emotional. Mine was totally emotional. Never discount any emotional trauma, even I remembered. Nobody knows all the physical causes but a doctor in California believes stuttering can be treated with medication. ( see Yahoo ‘Dr.Gerald Maguire’) I know a stutterer who is now 99% fluent. Don't give up anything you're doing to improve. Try any suggestions from fellow r/stutter posters. Any progress will encourage you. Best, Sue.
