If it were me talking to you and you couldn’t understand what I was saying, an easy and acceptable response would be that you can’t piece together what I am saying. That you understand the struggle, and your time isn’t being wasted by being patient while I attempt to repeat it more clearly. Sympathy without making them feel inferior.
