The hardest part about stuttering to me... Is even though as a grown adult I have managed to reduce the associated shame over time and logically can understand that it's not something that makes me somehow "less than", and even though other people can logically know that too... subconsciously the world views my stutter as a deficiency of my personhood. Whether that's intellectual or emotional. While most people at least have the option of putting on a confident front (regardless of how they feel inside), I quite literally don't. Because the world will always subconsciously perceive my stutter as an insecurity and a lack of confidence.
