What works for one, doesn't necessarily work for others. I suggest that you try an individualized approach. Additionally, I follow a rule of thumb that encourages attacking the speech disorder from multiple angles that works in all conditions. This includes considering both hearing and not hearing yourself, and using either one or two ear plugs (instead of only making speech work with one ear plug).
