Used to stutter (once per sentence~) between 13-18, I'd like to share why I believe I no longer do I didn't read anybody else's advice on reducing stuttering, this is my first time in this sub. I mention this as this may be a good thing as nothing other than my personal experience did not influence my opinions on how I (and potentially someone reading this) overcame stuttering. I'll keep this short and get straight to the point. I believe that what triggered my stutter was constant stress, anxiety, overthinking, uncertainty of what I should do and say, and low confidence. I believe some, if not all of the following allowed me to overcome my stutter: 1. Slowed down my speed of speech significantly. I used to rush what I said way too much and communicated using as little words as possible. 2. **Thought out loud when no one was around (I still do this at 26 for unrelated reasons). Doing this allowed me to focus on, analyze and adjust my desired speed of speech, tone, and confidence while speaking. 3. Cleared my mind when talking to others. This allows me to reduce unconfidence, uncertainty, overthinking, nervousness, anxiety, stress, etc. 4. Rather than fighting my stutter, I accepted it. By accepting the fact that I was stuttering, I prevented it from getting worse. 5. Started prioritizing personal development (reading, working out, running, career progression..) and have improved my overall physical health, mental health, happiness and confidence. I believe doing these things indirectly impacted my stutter for the better. Hope this helps someone. ❤️
