23 is not too old for teen insecurities. I work with people near retirement that act like teens when it comes to insecurities (and petty gossip but that’s a different topic). Self worth really has no age. Which is good news for you! Because it’s never too late to work on it. Your twenties are a weird time where there really is no standard for who is “behind”. Some of the people you graduated with are parents, some are in the same boat as you, some will never leave their childhood bedroom, some will die early, most are getting through school slowly while working. It’s too soon to decide you will never be fulfilled. You’re only half way to middle age. I missed a lot of my teenage milestones. Never dated anyone, had very few friends, didn’t do much outside of school except watch tv and hope I got hit by a bus or something. I flunked out of a really good university. I thought my life was over. But now I’m at a local university and starting over again, I’m more ready now. I’m making an effort to be more social. I started caring about my body and getting in shape. The fact you attempted college is more than a lot of people can say. You can go back and start on a new path. Try to stop looking back at what could’ve been, because a lot of it can still happen! People can’t see right through you, most are too insecure about themselves to notice you are too.
