Hi! I am a speech therapist with a pretty good understanding of stuttering, and I agree with some of the other comments here. It TOTALLY depends on your therapist and their training. Unfortunately, a lot of speech therapists don't have a nuanced understanding of stuttering or of PWS. Most people can benefit from an approach that addresses the thoughts, beliefs and emotions associated with stuttering. It sounds like this therapist was only doing "fluency shaping" exercises, without taking you as a person into account. Fluency shaping, in my opinion, is not super helpful beyond the therapy room and in every day life. It may be more beneficial to look for a speech therapist who is more holistic, does avoidance reduction, stuttering modification, etc.
