I would define myself as a stutterer, but I don't let my stutter define me in the way that it would put me or my life in a box. When you google "define" this is what you get... Define: verb 1. state or describe exactly the nature, scope, or meaning of. "the contract will seek to define the client's obligations" "for some, the football team defines their identity" 2. mark out the boundary or limits of. "clearly defined boundaries" By putting it up front first it may give the new person OP is meeting an assumption regarding their personality that may be (probably is, considering the many stereotypes that are associated with stutterers and stuttering) totally different from their true personality. I would agree with u/mrkeifer just get to know each other naturally and I'd bet you'll learn a lot more about one another.
