I wouldn't say it's a slippery slope. Yes you build up tolerance initially but it levels off eventually so you don't keep building up tolerance indefinitely. And it's not addictive in the sense that you get withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking it. I'm not a doctor but this has been my experience as a person who's been on Vyvanse for a couple of years (for my ADHD).
