I’m a special Ed teacher who works with elementary school kids. If I’ve learned one thing about working with kids, it’s that they will find anything and everything and bring it up. I’ve found that when they bring up my stutter, I just use it as an opportunity to explain differences between individuals. I tell them that’s it’s just the way I was born and that everybody talks differently. Preschoolers might not be as observant as older kids and might not bring it up as often. Lots of preschoolers go to speech therapy so it might be a bonding point between you guys! The best way to handle is just to laugh at your self and be light! Kids respond well if you are calm and happy about it. If you stutter, just relax and move on. They have such short attention spans at that age so they will quickly forget!
