I have a friend who also stutters and even though we never talk about the fact the we stutter, I like to think he knows that I stutter. Us stutters know when a person stutters. Anyways, he suggested that I get a job in IT. He said he could see me in a job like that, but I couldn’t do the technical support or customer service on the phone, at least not for the rest of my life. Phones give me anxiety just like ordering at a drive thru at a fast food place. Surprisingly enough, I worked full time at a call center for over a year during my time in college. I sounded like a damn robot because I would always follow the company’s call flow and minimize my time on the calls to avoid stuttering. Either way, I ended up leaving the job because the call center was reassigned a new company and I lost my ride to work. I didn’t have a car either and in all honesty, I used it as an excuse to quit.
