I need to add a few more thoughts. I've been stuttering all my life - I am now in my seventies. I'm doing ok, I'm mostly fluent, but it's still there, some weeks are worse than others. The thing is: when dealing with stuttering; it takes guts, courage, bravery. That's what I'm talking about - encouraging this student to stand up for himself to the teacher - tactfully and respectfully. This student didn't say how old he was; his parents could talk to the teacher also. I've noticed on this thread that there isn't a lot of comments about getting therapy or becoming a member of a self-help group like the National Stuttering Association ([westutter.org](https://westutter.org) . They have many chapters across the U.S. There was also an group in the Eastern U.S. called Speak Easy. It is very well recommended. I knew the couple who started it. I don't know if they are still in existence.
