Hello! Retail/Customer service worker here, I had the exact same thoughts going into my job since my job is 98% talking to people I was terrified but something I have discovered at my place of work I have made friends with most of the people there and they all know that I have a stutter. I handle customers all day everyday and they are very open and patient with me. But of course there will always be people who try to make fun and humiliate you so allow me to share a quick story: About a year into working my job after getting to know most of the people I had my first real run in with one of **those** people and I handled him, for the most part he was just super impatient but then, he made a comment like “I shouldn’t work here if I can’t even speak clear enough for anyone to understand me.” You know all cowardly and not to my face and that’s when I watched my boss tell him to take that somewhere else and that his business will be rejected. Haven’t seen him again and that is just one of my favorite stories. I said all that just to say that you’ve got this! Just be yourself and put forth kindness! Good luck and congrats!!! TL;DR: People suck but put forth kindness and someone will have you back when you need it!
