What helped me last year was being able just to talk to more people and participate as much as I could whenever there was an opportunity. Of course, this was more effective pre-pandemic, but it still applies. Talk to anyone you're close with. Parents, friends, whatever, make an attempt to hold a conversation with them. Then move onto people you're less close to and seem like more of a challenge. Keep putting yourself in positions that feel scary, so that when the real opportunity arises you'll be prepared. It's easier said than done, and I personally am still struggling with it, but it helped me and hopefully will help you.
