Well sure, you don’t owe ‘em anything! Fuck ‘em :). But for me it’s for my own benefit of wanting to feel understood. Just like I would be bothered if they got my name wrong. Leaning into a pronounced stutter (de-masking basically) can be obvious without an explanation also. I just want to move on from the situation and just feel like ‘we’ll they didn’t get to see the comfortable version of me, so oh well’ vs ‘oh no I embarrassed myself’. Taking the self judgment out of it. But for sure, it’s about whatever benefits you, not them!
