I joined the air force last year and I dreaded saying reporting statements. I usually tried to stay quiet or say reporting statements when a lot of trainees weren’t around. Some trainees in my flight were pretty understanding of my stutter and never picked on me. I did have one embarrassing moment where I had a block while trying to say the reporting statement in front of my dorm. I did have an MTI catch on my patterns and even pulled me to the side and asked if I had a natural stutter because I said “um” a lot. He said that he will keep that in mind if he were to call on my name. Im now at my first duty station and have a pretty noticeable stutter but nobody says anything and everybody is patient with my speech
