Why do I stutter even when I talk alone

Why do I stutter even when I talk alone I've read many reports saying that stuttering is caused by psychological reasons. Even when I talk to myself, I stutter. Is my stuttering caused by neurological reasons? Also, I don't stutter when I read long passages aloud. Are there others with similar symptoms like me?
