It did help in so much that practicing reading out lout allowed me to explore my stutter: when it happens, where it happens and it took a lot of the fear out of speaking for me. The vowel elongation and slowed speech helped a little too, but mostly it was a confidence booster. Like, "see, I can do this." Note, it didn't teach me, "you can do this fluently." I started speaking up in school and activities and suddenly, my fluency improved. Not gone! Never gone, but improved.
