Try speech therapy again. Many of us had ineffective / unsuccessful therapy as children and in our teens. I certainly did. And these repeated attempts at speech therapy often leave us with the idea that speech therapy doesn't work. It is my opinion that this is a false notion. *Speech therapy hasn't worked for you yet.* Find an SLP who specializes in stuttering. With the right speech therapist and program, some of us are able to achieve fluency. Put in the work every day. No different than going to the gym or practicing a musical instrument. I saw the same speech therapist in my teens and in my twenties. I didn't get much from the program in my teens. Nor did I put in the effort in my teens. In my twenties I was able to go from severe stuttering to fluent in \~6 months. The only difference was the effort I put into my fluency as an adult. If you're willing to try off label use of medication, I urge you to consider that there are speech therapy programs you haven't tried yet either. I hear about therapies where they promote specific techniques not to stutter, or ways to combat the blocks. These always sound suspect to me. They remind me of the public school therapy I was offered as a child. The therapy I received was a "ground up" approach. They didn't teach me not to stutter. They taught me to speak fluently. I was able to achieve fluency in about six months. I did so by practicing 10 - 20 minutes a day, sometimes twice a day. Another person here recently shared that they were able to do so in two months, practicing upwards of two hours a day.
