I would like help in terms of how such a charity organisation can be set up here in South Africa to make it to be effective and efficient. I don’t have all the solutions and resources (materially, human and financially) but guys like yourselves have been helping stuttering people for ages. So I think some of the starting points could be the following: 1) From your experience how can such an organisation be set up? 2) What programs can be run (we can then discuss how to customise such programs to the situations we encounter here in South Africa) 3) How can these programs be effectively executed to benefit the affected people. 4) How did you succeed to get the buy-in of governments to begin to realise that stuttering is a real issue which need to be addressed and the “victims” need help. 5) How do you structure your resources (financial, material, human, technological and others)? 6) From your perspective, what kind of budget is required to run an effective and efficient charity organisation? When we succeed here in South Africa, we can then tap this experience to get organisations like these to be started in other countries in Africa. People need help. I am talking from experience for I suffered without any form of help. If I look back and had I received help, I would have been a much more better person and I would have achieved much more in life. My ego, fluency and assertiveness would have been much better. I would not be caged by fear today although I try to fight it all the time. Sometimes all I need is someone to talk to who understands my situation. Here is Africa, you are a laughing stock when you stutter and comedians even make comedy of us. Movie writers even make movie scripts and scenes for people who stutter (while using fluent people to pretend to stutter) just to make their movies and soapies to be jokily/fun and make viewers laugh. My heart bleeds profusely at these things because inwardly I know the damage this has caused me. Since I was young I have been longing to help others and in situations I could, I helped.
