I am an SLP. I would recommend getting a second opinion from another neurologist. Not because I'm qualified to say what may or may not be happening, but because that guy you saw sounds like an ass. Also, given your constellation of various speech-motor-sensory symptoms that occurred with the stuttering, it's likely that any SLP you see will recommend a neuro workup. Regardless of the cause, speech therapy can certainly help with managing the stuttering piece, if it continues to persist and impact you.
