The cure? Howdy I’ve been stuttering for 20 years now but as of late I’ve made a real effort to rid of my self of this affliction. I’ve been great strides with concerns to my fluency by using prolonged phonation as well as these accompanying techniques: - Light contact of lips and tongue, breathing, and voice. I am too forceful with my sound execution and this is causing blocking and hard stuttering— this should help - Speak in breaks. Breathe at the top of every break - Eye contact. Do not close my eyes when stuttering. It looks weird and it’s my coping mechanism. Eliminating your coping mechanism is also one key to getting rid go stutter - Maintain light breathe and make a conciseness effort to evaporate breathe out at all times; stop holding your breathe— this is why I am blocking. It is possible to say sounds with no breathe but most other sounds require breathe - Don’t hesitate before words or sounds; this is important to counteract blocking and the holding of breathe - Lower tone, especially at start of words - Calm, light, and slow speech. Do not speed up, especially after prolonged phonation - Light contact on all sounds; this includes sounds that involves the back of your throat like ”I” I can not—for the life of me—say plosive sounds without blocking (p, t, k, b, d). This is my last hurdle, primarily because prolonged phonation does not work on these sounds. (You can not drag out the sound D for instance). What technique do y’all suggest I use to say these plosive sounds? Thank y’all so much in advance!
