I get told i am an "excellent communicator" and "good with people" by co-workers regularly. I didnt believe it at first (for about 10 years or so :)) but even with my stutter not changing much I am starting to believe it. just like u/attaboy3 said; good communicating is mostly about active listening (expressing the emotion they are trying to evoke, asking them to clarify things, and expanding in what they say without one-upping). hell, stuttering *helps* with that solely due to the number of time we (or at least I) have chosen to just listen because speaking is just too much work.
