There is no cure for it, let alone any real effective progressive treatment. It is possible to become fluent, but it will really never go away, it's similar to outgrowing Asthma, in the sense that after a long enough period of time with the right concentration and effort it can be controlled. It will likely always be there though. It's all still really unknown at this point Stuttering itself is lightly explained in the FAQ on the sidebar, but doesn't include everything, I'm sure there's been other posts or something that describe it in detail, [this post may help](https://www.reddit.com/r/Stutter/comments/4suktd/whats_your_analogy_or_method_for_explaining_the/), I don't have a whole lot of time right now to explain everything.
