You might not be able to control your fluency or disfluency. But you can control your embarrassment. Sometimes it's a matter of reframing how you look at things. You do not stutter because of some fault or choice that you have made. You're disfluency is something thrust upon you. It's a challenge you face all day everyday. We feel embarrassed when we say something stupid, because we didn't think about the impact of our words. You're stuttering is not at all the same as that Stop feeling embarrassed for wanting to participate. Or anticipating embarrassment. It takes a lot of strength for someone with a speech impediment to speak up. Take pride in stepping forward.
