When I was much more confident, my stutter was barely noticeable. I truly believe that confidence and self-esteem do wonders, but it's a gradual process. It starts with getting used to being uncomfortable in all kinds of situations while avoiding to determine the quality of the outcome based on fluency. If you go to a pub, stutter while ordering a beer, and still get the beer, wouldn't you call it a success? You got what you wanted regardless of your speech impediment, right? I truly believe that, if we stop determining the quality of the outcome based on fluency, we will slowly build confidence and the stutter will decrease as a result.
